Edit Assistant Apprenticeship
Join Sky’s world-class Post Production team and get hands-on with the magic that happens behind the screen. On this two-year apprenticeship, you’ll support our Edit Operations team, mastering the workflows and techniques that bring Sky’s biggest shows to life.
From Entertainment and Drama to Sport and News, you’ll help shape the content millions watch every day — learning how editing, grading and audio all come together. You’ll gain real experience in a professional broadcast environment and work alongside industry experts every step of the way.
This is a site-based role at our Osterley campus, where you’ll be surrounded by cutting-edge technology and a supportive, creative team.

Right to work
You will have valid right to work in the UK by the programme start date (07/09/2026) and will remain valid for the full duration of the apprenticeship (2yrs) without requiring renewal or expiring during this time.

What you’ll do
As an Edit Assistant Apprentice, you’ll learn the essentials of post-production and broadcast workflows. You’ll:
Support teams across Editing, Audio, and Grading departments
Manage and prepare incoming media for Entertainment and Sport shows
Ingest and organise footage from production teams
Export and deliver content to clients and platforms
Help prepare edited sequences for audio and finishing
Contribute to technical discussions and troubleshoot issues
Build relationships with clients and colleagues to deliver the highest quality results
What we’re looking for
You don’t need industry experience — just curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for post-production. You’ll need:
- You’ll have a minimum of five GCSEs A* - C (or equivalent grades 9-4), including English and Maths, or BTEC Level 2. And will have these by September 2026.
- To have finished education and be ready for full-time work by September 2026
- To have lived in the UK or Republic of Ireland for at least 3 years
Skills and qualities that’ll help you shine:
- Interest in editing tools such as Avid Media Composer, Da Vinci Resolve, or Adobe Premiere Pro
- Curiosity about how video content is created and managed
- Openness to learning technical standards used in TV and digital media
- A strong work ethic and calm approach under pressure
- Good communication and time management skills

What you’ll learn
You’ll work towards a Post Production Technical Operator Level 4 Apprenticeship, delivered by London South Bank University (LSBU) with support from ScreenSkills.
You’ll spend 80% of your time learning on the job with Sky Post Production and 20% completing structured training. The course covers:

Media ingest and storage management
Editing and file delivery processes
Digital despatch and quality control

Technical support
Technical and creative support for post-production teams
