I'm Philipp, Team Leader at Sky Sport News. I support the newsroom team in selecting topics and focus areas, take care of the mix of information and entertainment. As part of the management team, I'm allowed to help shape the medium-term direction of Sky Sport News.
My team is a great mix of experienced editors and young talent who make the viewers' TV experience something special! Important projects include the further development of the editors, support for duty scheduling and, of course, helping to shape the content of our programmes.
What is it that you love most about your role?
Diversity and constant change: new formats, new processes, new management culture - and always the chance to help shape things.
Describe a project, or career highlight where you were able to make a difference.
The "Deadline Day" is the last day of the transfer period. I was able to accompany the project for several years and I am still thrilled: there is rarely so much teamwork, passion and expertise - bundled together in one day.
A great experience for the spectators and for us as the Sky Sport News team.
At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.
The media world is constantly changing - this is challenging, but also exciting and offers many opportunities. We are constantly challenging ourselves, trying to improve and looking for new opportunities. For example, the editorial team is currently organising workshops on artificial intelligence.
How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?
Numerous breaking news reports, great emotions, sometimes also complex sports political issues - you can only convey this to the audience if the teamwork is right, if you have fun and are enthusiastic. And this is only possible if the newsroom forms a team: Appreciative, open, positive.
Even after more than 12 years, I still really enjoy working with my colleagues!
