Content and Sport | 8 March 2024 | 5 mins

I head the Original Production Non Scripted department. Together with the Executive Producers, I make sure that we look for, find and produce extraordinary, great and tailor-made Sky Originals for Sky and WOW.

I am also part of the jury of the Blauer Panther (Bavarian Television Award). I not only get to watch and evaluate current shows with great colleagues from the industry, but also exchange ideas with them and get inspiration on where the content journeys of the various broadcasters, streaming providers and platforms are heading and which trends are recognizable.

What is it that you love most about your role?

It's just great to see how an idea turns into fantastic content for our customers. The feeling when this content is also well received by customers is indescribable.

The mix of management, strategy, creativity and great teamwork is also great fun.

Describe a project, or career highlight where you were able to make a difference.

In my previous role, I was responsible for business affairs. I negotiated the contracts for our non-scripted productions. The special thing about this was that we negotiated some of these productions not just for us, i.e. for Sky Deutschland, but for the entire Sky Group.

New workflows had to be set up, we had to coordinate closely, keep exchanging information and review everything. When the first contracts were drawn up and signed and everything worked as we had imagined, it was like Christmas and a birthday all rolled into one!

All the gears meshed together. All the problems and uncertainties that caused us to despair time and again, were cleared out of the way. It's just a great feeling when things finally work out the way you hoped they would. Even if the road was rocky from time to time.

At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.

We are of course always trying to find and produce something new and unprecedented for our customers. It's always a great new challenge and opportunity to develop the next big thing.

One particular case where everything really worked out is our reality series "Diese Ochsenknechts". Now in its third season, it has become a great Sky Deutschland brand.

It was a risk to go down the reality route, as there are already very good shows on free TV, but we had a good nose, took a risk and the plan worked out. And when people outside Sky talk about how great the product has become, i.e. when you hear it directly from customers, it's a fantastic feeling.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

We work with so many different people internationally. We share experiences, support each other, and when the teams meet up for a personal exchange, maybe go out for a meal in the evening, the conversations become more personal, you realize how similar we all are.

Especially as a working Mom, I've realized that I'm not alone with my issues, but that others feel the same way. And the great thing is that here at Sky you simply have lots of opportunities to live all kinds of lifestyles and work flexibly.
