Post-production provides Editing, Grading and Audio services for all of Sky’s Content Creation teams – Entertainment, News, Drama, Sport & Sports Broadcasting. We also provide our services to independent production houses.

The department is made up of Editing, Audio, Edit Operations, User Support, Post-Producers, and Planning, who work together to deliver a complete Post-production service to our clients. Our teams of specialists work across the whole spectrum of content genres, from news and sport to audience entertainment shows and documentaries.

Our talented Editors, Graders and Audio Mixers are supported by dedicated technical support, media management and workflow specialists. Complex programme creation is managed by our Post Producers. The people and resources are coordinated by our Planning department.

What you’ll be doing

Join us as a Post-Production Edit Assistant Apprentice and dive into the world of Broadcast and Post-Production. You’ll support our Edit Operations team, mastering Broadcast-specific workflows and techniques.

Learn what it means to be an Edit Assistant, gain invaluable technical knowledge, and build strong relationships with clients and peers in a supportive environment. Work closely with our Editing, Grading, and Audio departments to expand your Post-production skills.

Tasks include:

  • Provide support across all aspects of post-production within your scope of responsibility
  • Developing a thorough knowledge of inter-departmental workflows and end to end process to support and aid the editing department
  • Manage incoming media for Entertainment & Sport shows
  • Log and report support and workflow issues
  • Ingest of footage that has been captured on location from production and exporting viewing links of footage
  • Preparing Edited sequences for Audio turnovers
  • Participate & contribute to general technical discussions
  • Help to advise clients when logistical and technical issues arise

Note this role is solely based on site and there is no hybrid option available.

The qualification

This Level 4 apprenticeship gives you the chance to develop technical skills in post-production while working with Sky’s expert teams.

Over 12 months, you’ll spend 80% of your time learning on the job and 20% receiving structured training from London South Bank University (LSBU), supported by ScreenSkills. You’ll learn how to manage media files, support creative teams, deliver content securely, and check the quality of finished work.

The programme is approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE).

What we’re looking for

Education: You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs A* – C (or equivalent grades 9-4), including English and Maths or BTEC Level 1 and 2.

We are seeking a passionate individual with a strong interest in post-production, someone eager to learn and explore the intricacies of the field. No prior experience is necessary; we are open to candidates at any level, as long as they bring enthusiasm and a genuine drive to grow in this role.

Other skills we’re looking for include:

  • A general awareness of editing tools like Avid Media Composer, Da Vinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Curiosity about how video content is put together and managed through the post-production process
  • An openness to learning about UK video formats and standards used in TV and digital media
  • Strong work ethic
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Effective time management and reporting
  • Calm in a high-pressured environment.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered for this role, you must meet all of the following eligibility criteria.

  • You have a minimum of five GCSEs A* - C (or equivalent grades 9-4), including English and Maths, or or BTEC Level 1 and 2 by September 2025.
  • You will be above the statutory school leaver age by September 2025.
  • You will have completed any current education by September 2025 and do not plan to be undertaking any education throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • You will have resided in the UK or Republic of Ireland for three years by September 2025, unless you have an exemption listed in Annex A of the document linked below.
  • If you are on a time limited visa, your visa will not expire at any point during the apprenticeship programme.

  • Application

    Time to submit your application on our system. We’ll be asking for your personal details, academic information and we'll also be checking your apprenticeship eligibility alongside the Apprenticeship Levy guidelines. That’s all there is to it.

  • Digital Assessment

    Once your application is in, we’ll ask you to complete our immersive digital assessments. They’re mostly situational questions and will also include a video interview.

    We understand that you might want to utilise AI to support your preparation for taking the assessments – understanding Sky etc. But we ask that you complete the assessments themselves without the assistance of AI.

  • Assessment centre

    For the final assessment stage, we’ll invite you to our bespoke virtual assessment centre. You’ll get the opportunity to impress us in person and get a feel for what it’s really like to work at Sky.

    The day could include an individual interview, group discussion or individual exercise. We’ll give you plenty of notice and let you know how best to prepare for the day.
