What is the plot?  

Global Commerce are responsible for the Identity and Sales and Service platform within Global Streaming Technology, facilitating seamless customer experiences across multiple platforms, notably; Peacock, SkyShowtime, Showmax, NOW & WOW. Focusing on sign up, sign in and acquisition through prospect web journeys, 3rd party partner web integrations & in-app purchase integrations, plus extensive self-service capabilities for in-life customers account management i.e. chat bots, live chat and comprehensive help articles. The team is based across London, Leeds, Lisbon and Prague. 

What role will you play? 

Join our new Prague based team and tackle global-scale authentication and digital identity challenges. Every time a customer logs in, the work of your team will be at the forefront. 

You’ll be leading a team of skilled software developers dedicated to building scalable and robust web services. Your role will involve strengthening our Java expertise through activities like code reviews, formal knowledge sharing sessions and mentoring of other developers. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment. It’s not just your team in the Identity area, but other Prague and Leeds teams as well, and you will help coordinate activities across the whole Global Commerce department. Your daily tasks: 

• Lead, inspire and oversee a team of passionate software engineers by promoting best technology and software development practices into the team with passion and enthusiasm 

• Work with project management team to ensure effective resource management while supporting your team to achieve both personal and professional goals 

• Be a technical contributor as much as needed 

• Deliver highly scalable and highly reliable products (yes, our customers expect 99.999% availability)   

• Exemplary management of stakeholders through proactive communication and exception handling  

What skills do you need to play your role well? 

• Strong Java knowledge and experience with other technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Elastic Search, NoSQL databases, Groovy, Scala. 

• Engineering expertise in developing performant and robust web services with 24/7 support requirements. 

• Previous experience of modern Architecture, Frameworks & Design Patterns  

• Previous experience in an engineering leadership or co-ordination role 

• An agile and dynamic approach to delivery with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.  

• Experience of technology delivery and the challenges it can bring.  

• Creative thinking, analytical skills, with attention to detail and relentless focus on our customer's experience and application performance. 

• Ability to work well in a team, be self-driven and eager to learn  

• Fluent English. 

• Willingness to travel to the UK or Portugal for work-related activities.
