As a Cyber Security Apprentice at Sky, I’ve had the chance to explore different areas of security while learning from some brilliant people. My team has been incredibly welcoming and always happy to support me, whether it’s answering questions or involving me in exciting projects. The mix of hands-on experience and structured learning makes every day interesting, and I genuinely feel like I’m growing both professionally and personally.
What has been a career highlight/project for you that allowed you to make a difference?
One of the most rewarding things I’ve done is share my apprenticeship journey with others who are thinking about applying to Sky. I’ve spoken to students and early careers groups about what it’s really like to work here, what I’ve learned, and how the programme has helped me grow.
It’s amazing to see how sharing my experience can inspire others to explore similar opportunities. Helping someone feel more confident about taking that first step into tech feels like a real win, and it’s something I’m proud to be part of.
What about your role makes you feel excited, ambitious and inspired?
What keeps me excited in my role is the constant learning and the chance to work with such talented people. Cyber Security is always evolving, and Sky really encourages us to stay curious and keep developing. I’ve had opportunities to collaborate across teams, take part in training, and explore different areas of tech.
There’s a real sense of momentum here, like we’re always moving forward, and that inspires me to push myself and aim higher every day.
How would you describe the inclusive environment at Sky?
Sky has created a really inclusive and welcoming environment. From day one, I’ve felt supported by my team and managers, who genuinely care about our wellbeing and development. The hybrid working setup gives me flexibility, which helps me balance work and study. It’s clear that Sky values diversity and wants everyone to feel like they belong.
In your role, what are the best perks and benefits at Sky?
There are loads of great perks at Sky, but the ones that stand out for me are the learning and development opportunities. As an apprentice, I’ve had access to amazing training, mentoring, and support that’s helped me grow so much.
The hybrid working setup is super flexible, which makes balancing work and study a lot easier. And of course… free Sky Sports! I won’t lie, being able to catch the big games without worrying about a subscription is a definite win. It’s the kind of perk that makes your friends and family a bit jealous!
