I work within Global Streaming Technology in the Global Commerce department based in Osterley. I specifically work on Transcomms across different propositions; which includes NOW, Peacock, Showtime and Showmax.

What is it that you love most about your role?

What I love most about my role as an Associate Software Engineer is the opportunity to continuously learn and grow in a dynamic environment. Every day presents new challenges that push me to expand my skills and knowledge.

I enjoy being part of a collaborative team, where I can contribute ideas and work together to create innovative solutions. It's incredibly rewarding to see my code come to life and make a tangible impact on the products and services we deliver to our customers.

Moreover, I appreciate the supportive culture at Sky. Mentorship and professional development opportunities are readily available.

As someone passionate about technology and its potential to improve lives, I find great fulfilment in contributing to projects that are at the forefront of innovation in the industry.

Describe a project, or career highlight where you were able to make a difference.

I participated in the Careers Day event organised by Sky Cares. This event aimed to inform young people from the community about various early career opportunities available at Sky.

As a representative of the Software Engineering Graduate Scheme, I had the privilege of sharing my experiences and insights into the technology sector with enthusiastic participants. It was fulfilling to engage with these young minds, especially as someone who studied law before changing careers, showing them that there isn't always one straight career trajectory.

I am particularly passionate about supporting those from underrepresented backgrounds, and believe strongly in the importance of having a diverse workforce. I aimed to inspire them to consider careers in technology and demonstrate the pathways available through programmes like Sky’s graduate scheme.

By participating in this event and volunteering my time, I felt I made a tangible impact on the future aspirations and career choices of these individuals; potentially opening doors to new opportunities in the technology industry.

At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.

At Sky, the culture of challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing fosters an environment that is dynamic and full of excitement. It's invigorating to be part of a team that constantly pushes boundaries and seeks innovative solutions.

As a Software Engineer, change and innovation are crucial. This environment not only keeps me motivated and engaged, but also allows me to contribute meaningfully to advancements in our industry.

The prospect of making significant impacts and shaping the future of technology and entertainment makes this journey both thrilling and rewarding at Sky.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

At Sky, I’ve found it to be an incredibly inclusive place where I can truly be myself. Joining the graduate scheme through the 'Get into Tech' programme, which aims to get more women into tech roles, I was welcomed by colleagues and managers who are not only supportive but also genuinely invested in my growth.

Additionally, as a career changer, learning is essential for me. I've had invaluable support in this regard through the graduate scheme. There is an emphasis on continuous learning, and my team is very supportive of spending time upskilling and learning.

The team culture here is collaborative, and everyone is approachable, making it easy to integrate and feel valued right from the start. I’ve had the opportunity to connect with the 'Women in Tech' network, which has been instrumental in building a supportive community and providing valuable resources.

Sky’s commitment to diversity is evident through various initiatives and networks that celebrates, and supports, different backgrounds. This nurturing environment has empowered me to grow confidently in my new career.

I am also part of the Sky Muslim Network, which has been a fantastic support system. The network not only provides a space to connect with fellow Muslim colleagues, but also promotes understanding and inclusion within the broader company.

Through events and activities like the Global Village Event held by the Multicultural Network, I feel a strong sense of belonging. This level of support and inclusivity at Sky makes it a place where I can thrive both professionally and personally.
