As part of Sky’s Finance Graduate Programme, I’ve rotated across different teams, each giving me exposure to how the business operates and how financial decisions support the business. The programme has given me real responsibility early on, whether that’s managing reporting deadlines, improving templates and processes, or giving insights that feed into decision-making. It’s been a great way to learn how finance shapes the business while developing both technical skills and confidence.
What has been a career highlight/project for you that allowed you to make a difference?
One of the biggest highlights of my time at Sky has been how quickly my ownership and responsibility have grown and how trusted I’ve felt as a finance professional even at an early stage in my career. I’ve been given the opportunity to lead key parts of our financial reporting cycles, coordinate input from teams across the business, and present insights that feed into decision-making. Being trusted with this level of responsibility has shown me that my work has real influence and the analysis I've provided has helped senior managers understand the story behind the numbers. What stands out most for me is being treated as a valued finance partner, even as a graduate, which has been incredibly motivating and has made a positive impact to my confidence and development.
What about your role makes you feel excited, ambitious, and inspired?
What inspires me most is the pace of learning. Each rotation has brought something completely new to get involved in. There are always new systems, new stakeholders, and new challenges to keep me pushing myself. Working with different teams means I’m constantly learning from different perspectives, which keeps the work exciting and varied. That constant evolution and learning make me ambitious about the kind of impact I can make as I continue my finance career.
How would you describe the inclusive environment at Sky?
Sky has an inclusive and supportive culture, which is something I've felt from the beginning. My journey at Sky started with the Females into Finance Insight Week, a programme designed for women interested in building a career in finance. I got the chance to network across Sky, including shadowing current Finance Graduates and hearing about their experiences. I also had the opportunity to work on a team project and present it to senior managers, alongside taking part in valuable training sessions and insightful talks. The environment during the week was really welcoming and joining the graduate scheme has further reinforced that sense of network and belonging.
In your role, what are the best perks and benefits at Sky?
There are a lot of great personal and professional perks and benefits at Sky. The on-site facilities like the cinema and nail salon are really unique, and the free Sky TV is great! Sky also offers brilliant learning and development support, and a standout benefit for me has been Sky sponsoring my CIMA finance qualification and providing dedicated study leave for this. Having set time to prepare for exams has made it much easier to balance studying alongside my role, with managers always highlighting that studying is the main priority.
