I’m a Digital Analytics Engineer working within Sky Data, which sits in Sky’s wider Tech, Product & Data function. My role focuses on how data is collected across Sky’s digital platforms, making sure our websites are tagged correctly so that teams across the business can trust and use that data.
A big part of what we do is enabling others. By tagging Sky websites and platforms, we allow different teams to access meaningful insights through our approved analytics tracking provider. That data then feeds into decisions across product, marketing and technology.
What I really like about working in Sky Data is knowing that what we do has a direct impact across the whole business. Even though our work is often behind the scenes, it plays a big part in how Sky understands and improves the customer experience.
Sky encourages you to look beyond your job title and explore areas across tech, product and data, which means you’re constantly learning.
There’s a strong culture of collaboration, and you’re trusted to get involved in work that stretches you. I’ve never felt boxed into one role or skill set — instead, there’s real support to develop and make a meaningful contribution.
It’s motivating to know that the work you do helps shape decisions across Sky, not just within your immediate team
What has been a career highlight/project for you that allowed you to make a difference?
One of my highlights has been being involved in the migration to a more customer-focused analytics tracking platform. This work has helped improve the quality and depth of data available to teams across Sky.
By enabling more advanced data points, we’ve supported stakeholders in making clearer, data-led decisions that benefit both the business and our customers. It’s rewarding to be part of work where you can clearly see how improvements ripple out across the organisation.
Sky is genuinely forward‑thinking and data‑driven. Data isn’t treated as an afterthought — it’s built into how decisions are made across the business.
The range and scale of data available at Sky means teams can make informed, evidence‑based decisions every day. That’s why Tech, Product & Data, and especially Sky Data, sit right at the heartbeat of the organisation.
Being part of a business that truly values data, and invests in it properly, makes a big difference to how impactful your work can be.
What about your role makes you feel excited, ambitious and inspired?
No two days are ever the same. The nature of analytics means there’s always something new to learn, improve or solve.
Sky Data provides data to so many other teams, even small changes can make a noticeable difference. Seeing how your work is used across the business keeps things interesting and gives a real sense of purpose.
That feeling — that what you’re doing actually matters — is what keeps me motivated.
How would you describe the inclusive environment at Sky?
Sky really does walk the walk when it comes to inclusion. As someone who is part of both the neurodiverse and multicultural communities, I’ve always felt supported and welcomed.
There are regular cultural celebrations, awareness events and employee networks that help create a genuinely inclusive environment. These aren’t just token gestures — they’re visible, well supported and part of everyday life at Sky.
On top of that, initiatives like Sky Cares make it easy to get involved in charity and community work, which helps you feel connected to something bigger than just your role.
In your role, what are the best perks and benefits at Sky?
Sky offers a wide range of benefits that support both financial wellbeing and mental health. There are also great on‑site facilities, not just at Osterley but across other Sky locations.
And yes — it always comes up — free Sky TV is definitely a nice bonus.
