My role is a Scrum Master - it's like being a coach. I'm here to support the team to make sure things keep moving, but also find ways to improve and be more efficient with how we work.

My team is approximately 15 people. There are data scientists, data engineers and software engineers. We have multiple products.

Our work revolves around utilising Gen AI to help other teams at Sky. For example, a tool called Kosmo is used inside contact centres. When a customer calls, or emails in with an issue, the contact centre agents can search in Kosmo for relevant articles to help solve the issues customers are facing.

I love that I can make a change. I think it's really important that all voices are heard. Part of my role is to organise and run retrospectives for the team, to reflect on the past sprint (2 weeks) to see what went well and what did not, so that we are continuously improving.

Being in a coaching position, I love being able to see issues that are raised and how different team members come up with creative ways to solve those issues, with clearly visible improvements made to them and to those around them.

Describe a project, or career highlight at Sky where you were able to make a difference.

I started at Sky six years ago as a Tester for Sky Q, testing a content management tool the editors used to schedule content. A few years later I become a Business Analyst in the same team.

My task was to deliver a new content management tool which would be used for Sky Glass. A new team was hired, and I showed them how the API's work and all the rules that needed to be implemented, but also gathering new requirements. This tool is now live and used to schedule Glass/Stream for UK, Italy and Germany. It is also used to schedule content on Xumo for USA and Foxtel for Australia.

At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.

AI is constantly evolving, this is exciting but can also be scary. At Sky, we want to make sure we use Gen AI safely, and show others how to use it correctly. We are constantly reinventing ourselves, which means it's important to have a growth mindset.

Our way of working is; be safe and put the customer first. I'm lucky to have an enthusiastic and supportive team who are ready to leap to the next big thing.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

Having started my role in this team only a few months back, I have found that everyone I work with to be super supportive and encouraging to get me up to speed and settled in, within a short space of time. I even got my scrum certification through Sky. There is always something new to learn. Sky have so many communities to be a part of like Multiculture and LGBTQ+, and there's many events to participate in.

We have gone on social trips outside of work, and are constantly connecting over different things. I found that I've been given the space I need to learn - what I want, and how I want to learn.
