I work as an Access Network Design Engineer in a fantastic team focused on designing broadband and voice services. This includes Sky Broadband hub, and the newly released Sky Wi-Fi Max hub.

We collaborate closely to tackle challenges. Whether it’s improving existing features or designing new ones from scratch. Our work often involves writing technical specifications that guide the software development of the hubs.

It’s really rewarding to see our hard work translate into something that users love. Overall, it’s a great mix of problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork!

What I like most about my role is the satisfaction of knowing that my daily work contributes to Sky's commitment to providing quality services to our customers. I feel that my work is relevant and I feel valued for what I can contribute to my team.

I have to make important decisions about the design of a product. While it entails significant responsibility, it also empowers me, and makes my work incredibly rewarding.

Describe a project, or career highlight at Sky where you were able to make a difference.

One of the most important moments of my career at Sky occurred last year when I played a key role in resolving a critical network issue. The problem had the potential to disrupt voice service for a significant number of customers, so I took the initiative to investigate the root cause.

Collaborating with various teams, we worked together to identify and implement a solution. My efforts not only contributed to resolving the issue, but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and communication in crisis situations.

At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting

The excitement lies in the constant evolution. Each project allows me to learn from my experiences and improve my skills.

Collaborating with talented colleagues fuels creativity, and fosters a culture where we can brainstorm and experiment without fear of failure. This dynamic atmosphere keeps me motivated and engaged.

For example, working on the design of the latest Sky Hub was both challenging and rewarding, as it was one of the first projects I led. I gained valuable insights from the experience, and I was fortunate to have a supportive team throughout the process. Thanks to our collaboration, the outcome was a success.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

From the start, I felt welcomed and valued at Sky, which was my first job in the UK since moving from Ecuador. This sense of inclusion not only boosts my confidence, but also sparks my creativity and collaboration with my teammates.

Sky fosters an incredibly inclusive workplace, with various communities and initiatives celebrating our diverse backgrounds. This supportive environment allows us to connect and learn from one another, which makes a significant difference when it comes to starting somewhere new.
