I currently work as a Senior Platform Controller within the Platform Control Centre, supporting Sky’s broadcast and streaming platforms. My role focuses on monitoring services, managing incidents, and ensuring a seamless viewing experience for customers across our content platforms.
I work closely with cross-functional teams across Sky, as well as with our sister company NBCUniversal, to coordinate responses, improve processes, and strengthen operational relationships.
I initially joined Sky as a contractor and, within a year, joined the Sky team when the Senior Platform Controller role was available. A key part of my role now involves analysing incidents, driving improvements, and ensuring new features or platform changes are delivered smoothly without impacting customers.
What is it that you love most about your career in Content & Creative at Sky?
What I enjoy most is knowing that the work I do directly contributes to the viewing experience of millions of customers. Being part of a team that supports major live events, on-demand content, and platform launches is both exciting and rewarding.
There is always something new happening, which creates a fast-paced environment where you’re constantly learning and improving. It gives a real sense of purpose, knowing your work helps deliver entertainment that people rely on every day.
What has been a career highlight/project for you that allowed you to make a difference?
A major highlight for me was being involved in the NOW platform migration. This project focused on moving to a modified platform designed to provide a better, more reliable content experience for customers.
During the migration, I supported incident response, process improvements, and coordination between Sky and NBCUniversal teams. The work helped streamline operations and improve platform stability, which ultimately delivered a smoother and more consistent viewing experience.
It was rewarding to see how operational improvements behind the scenes could directly enhance the experience for customers.
What about your role makes you feel excited, ambitious and inspired?
My role allows me to set a strong example through my work and contribute to meaningful process improvements. I enjoy looking at existing workflows with fresh eyes, identifying gaps, and finding practical solutions to improve efficiency and response times.
The collaboration across different Sky teams and with NBCUniversal is also very motivating. Working together to strengthen relationships and develop more efficient ways of operating creates a real sense of progress and growth.
There is always an opportunity to learn, innovate, and take on new challenges, which gives the role that 'never stand still' feeling.
How would you describe the inclusive environment at Sky?
As someone from the LGBTQIA+ community, I’ve seen first-hand how Sky actively promotes inclusion and awareness. The company supports initiatives such as Pride Month, panel discussions during LGBTQIA+ History Month, and company-wide participation in events like London Pride.
