My name is Jason Shum and I’m a Senior Change Analyst in GSM Change Management. I’m based in Sky Central in Osterley and have been with Sky for over a year and a half.

As a Change Analyst, it is my responsibility to manage and facilitate changes within Sky; from assessment, planning, risk and quality management. All the while looking at ways to strategically place ourselves for the future of change management. As part of a team of 16 in the UK, and more in Europe, it is our job to safeguard services, applications and infrastructure. Ensuring a smooth and effective delivery of changes whilst minimising customer disruptions.

Describe a project, or career highlight where you were able to make a difference.

The development of Change Automation is a project I take great pride in. Working with various engineering teams, we have developed pipelines that meet the standards for safe deployment.

This automation has had a significant impact. Saving teams valuable hours and allowing them to focus on improving the customer experience. Let’s continue to prioritise efficiency and automation to drive even better results!

At Sky we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.

There is a uniqueness in Change Management, in that we work closely with teams across the entire Sky estate.

From Sky Glass or Sky News website to our Broadband and Mobile propositions, I’ve been across them all. It’s a challenge to wrap my head around so many aspects of the business, but at the same time it’s exhilarating to be a part of the journey.

I’m proud of the recent launch of Sky Live, knowing that I developed the change automation that the apps release platform team utilises. To date they’ve automated hundreds of successful changes, which has saved countless hours.

It’s amazing to see the impact of my work, and the efficiency it brings to the teams.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

At Sky, everyone I’ve spoken to has been nothing but friendly.

This positive atmosphere empowers me to make decisions on behalf of the team, fostering my growth and development. I embrace the responsibility that comes with handling unforeseen challenges.

I’ve also had the opportunity to volunteer in the Sky Cares programme, where we give back to the community via a range of charity activities. It feels good to do good!

Hybrid working provides me with the freedom to decide where I work. It gives me the opportunity to customise my work environment based on my individual requirements and preferences.

The diverse range of on-campus events serves as a refreshing break from the usual routine, allowing me to revitalise and re-energise myself.
