As Sky Grad Designer, I will be working in different teams for the two rotations (6 month each) throughout the programme. I currently work in Platform B2B, and our focus is on the backend systems that power our customer experiences across platforms - which our business partners use.
What has been a career highlight/project for you that allowed you to make a difference?
Although only four months into my graduate scheme, I was trusted to lead an exploration project which has the potential to influence multiple B2B Tools and significantly improve the experience for our business partners. The work focused on research and early-stage concept development, including forward-looking ideas around AI.
My role was to clearly articulate the what, the why, and the UX principles behind the concepts, so delivery teams could make informed, user centred decisions when they are implemented. Recently, I walked my Lead Designer through the project, and the feedback was incredibly encouraging, particularly around my critical thinking and design process.
These are skills I deliberately set out to strengthen during the graduate scheme, so seeing that progress recognised so early has been a real career highlight.
What about your role makes you feel excited, ambitious, and inspired?
What excites me most is the sheer range of opportunities to gain experience and get involved. As a graduate, I have been able to support senior designers on research and workshops, run guerrilla testing on prototypes for other teams, and take part in training sessions on everything from vibe coding to motion design.
There is a strong culture of encouragement here. I feel genuinely supported by fellow grads, senior designers, programme champions, and even Heads of Design - all of whom actively encourage us to step forward and try new things.
The talent across the design community is inspiring, but what stands out most is how open people are with their knowledge. I feel comfortable starting conversations with anyone.
How would you describe the inclusive environment at Sky?
Inclusion is reflected in practical ways, such as accommodating dietary requirements and acknowledging religious and cultural celebrations. It is also evident in how teams are structured and communities are fostered.
I have found shared experiences and common ground in places I did not expect, which has been incredibly reassuring and has strengthened my sense of belonging. Leadership and team culture play a key role in this.
People are thoughtful, approachable, and respectful of work-life balance, and there are plenty of opportunities to engage with employee networks and inclusion-focused activities if you want to.
