Tell us about your role, your team, and the general projects/products you work with.

I've been working for the refund and investigations team, who manage all of the refunds that come into Sky. We deal with refunds on products such as Sky Glass orders, Sky Mobile orders, and cancelled subscriptions. When we receive a refund request, we review the customer's accounts and assess if we need to issue a refund or if there is an alternative solution.

What is it that you love most about your role?

My Favourite thing about the role is how many different things you can look into, as I've never enjoyed doing the same tasks over and over again. With refunds and investigations, I have been given the opportunity to work on various things daily and learn many valuable skills.

Describe a project or career highlight at Sky where you were able to make a difference.

Personally, my favourite project so far has been the SMS project I worked on with my fellow apprentices. The project's goal was to reduce the number of characters used in SMS messages sent out by Sky to be more cost-effective. I liked this project as it not only allowed us to showcase what we are capable of individually but also how well we work together as a team.

We did really well with the project and our work could significantly benefit Sky, which gave me a massive confidence boost.

At Sky, we’re always challenging ourselves to deliver the next big thing. Describe what that’s like and why it’s exciting.

It's always exciting, even as an apprentice, you know that whatever you are doing, you are helping the company to go on to achieve bigger and better things. It's great that you know you will always be challenged to grow, no matter your role. And it helps that the challenges you face always prepare you for the next big project.

How is Sky an inclusive place to work where you can be yourself?

The people make Sky. It can be a tad scary going into a new environment, but the people I've worked with have been amazing. They're always happy to help you when you ask, we always have a good laugh, and most importantly, they always make sure that you're okay. I love that nobody acts like they are superior; everyone speaks to you as an equal, and it's brilliant.

What is the most important thing you've learned as a Business Admin Apprentice?

Since being a business admin apprentice, the most important thing I've learned is that there are plenty of opportunities here at Sky. You aren’t stuck in the same department all the time, allowing you to try other roles within the business admin area (CSCO). You also get loads of opportunities to work on group projects with other apprentices, which are really fun.
