Having deciding that university wasn’t for him, Thomas started researching other job opportunities online which is where he learnt about the Sky Finance Apprenticeship.  Having always had an interest in finance, he was attracted by the opportunity to learn through hands on experience rather than out of text books.

Thomas’ apprenticeship works on a rotational basis, rotating between departments such as Tax, Accounts and Accounts Payable, allowing him to see where he might work best.

His apprenticeship is fast paced and every day is different.  He has worked on many exciting projects. He’s organised royalties from selling programme rights from Sky produced content such as Fortitude, he’s arranged payment of helicopter fees for Sky News and produced high profile payment contracts for Sky Sports.

A typical day for Thomas involves working with his team, meetings and working towards his Chartered Institute of Management Accounting qualification which Sky offers to all finance apprentices.

For Thomas, the best bit about working for Sky is the motivating and inclusive working environment, the Sky Rewards programme and being able to play table tennis with colleagues at lunchtime!
