Did you know we had 3 different software graduate programmes? With so much tech at Sky – Sky Glass, Sky Go, NOW, Sky Q (the list goes on) it’s no surprise that it can be hard to specialise from the get-go. So, we’ve simplified it for everyone, into one single programme.
If you want to be a software developer, automated tester or even specialise in a specific field of expertise in the future, then this programme is the one for you. Be behind the wheel and steer your software career in the direction you want, using our structured programme and endless tech opportunities. Working at the Brentwood office means that you will be working in a truly global operation working day-by-day alongside our teams at Comcast and Europe.
What you’ll be doing
Our accelerated 7-month programme starts everyone in a dedicated 5-week bootcamp aimed at giving you all the functional training to get started. You’ll cover learning to create clean, well-structured and efficient code, agile delivery, continuous build and integration, security principles for software development, test driven development and much more.
Afterwards, we’ll move into educational projects where you will partake in a 4-6 week C training course run by one of senior engineers, and then undertake a piece of product delivery that have real life implications alongside our experts. You will be working on our cutting edge projects and technologies such as Sky Glass and streaming technologies, or maybe new WIFI features on our new range of routers. Project development is typically in Linux and embedded C with support scripts in Python, PHP, bash, whatever is needed. If you don’t know C, no worries as our intensive C training course will quickly bring you up to speed.
We’ll then add in additional training based on where your interest lies to pump you up; ready to move into a delivery team where you’ll continue your career as an Associate Developer or Tester.
Could you be in the team behind the next iteration of Sky Glass? Or Sky Go? Whatever your project, you’ll be in the driving seat from day one. Make an impact and get all the support you need to start your career. There’s only one place you’ll see action like this – and that’s Sky.

Once your application has been submitted, you’ll be invited to complete our immersive digital assessments. This may land in your junk folder so don’t forget to check it.
Step 2 – Complete our online digital assessments. These look at your Sky fit, business fit, and your ability to code. Why not pop onto our dedicated Prep hub to familiarise yourself with some of these digital assessments before applying. You’ll have the opportunity to practice each of these assessments beforehand, so please read our email instructions carefully. We’ve added some tips to help you along the way.
You’ll be able to complete the coding assessment in any modern-day web language of your choosing. Please make sure you do practice tests before beginning this stage. We don’t expect to know everything so during this test you can also refer to websites or books.
Step 3 – For the final stage of your application, we’ll invite you to our assessment centre and give you some tasks to get to know you better. The day will give you a practical insight into what it’s like to work as a Software engineer and will assess your technical aptitude.
Once you’ve completed your assessment day, we’ll let you know when you can expect to hear back from us.
Enjoy an action-packed, learning experience with us as part of your graduate programme. We’ll help you grow into a great future leader, with the right tools and support.
