The Software Architect role is an exciting opportunity to join us and work within our Home Communications Delivery Team. Home networking and communications is key to the success of Sky’s next generation of customer services. Delivering a high performance stable broadband offering, together with a leading in home connectivity solution, Home Communications products will underpin the future for delivery of these services. Ensuring the seamless integration across a range of diverse products and technologies is required to ensure that Sky’s world class and award winning products always embrace quality, ease of use, clarity of purpose and always have the wow factor. 

What you’ll do:
•Break down Product Requirements into Software Requirements providing Design / Implementation input as appropriate
•Within Software Feature Delivery Lifecycle, perform architect review and sign-off of tickets prior to commitment into development sprint
•Provide source of Subject Matter Expertise on features to support development and test teams deliver these features into Home Communications products
•Where needed, provide technical arbitration over issues representing Sky strategic objectives

What you’ll bring:
•Software architecture of WiFi Access Point systems including device drivers, settings management APIs and supporting management applications
•Network technologies & protocols including IP, Ethernet & LAN management applications
•Adept at approaching new & unfamiliar technologies, software systems and problems. Self-sufficient in acquiring and applying required knowledge
•Ability to take High Level Requirements and translate into Low Level Software Requirements providing guidance on implementation appropriate to existing software architecture
•Able to understand complex software systems and break them down into simpler terms, documenting where necessary to promote clarity of understanding across teams
•Decompose and abstract software problems to recognise and promote generalised, scalable solutions
•Produce persuasive technical guidance by obtaining pertinent facts based on referable evidence
•Articulate clearly and succinctly both orally and in written documentation
•Can function across multiple stakeholders to drive consensus and alignment employing compromise as appropriate

Our location takes some beating: we’re practically in Brentwood station, which has regular trains to London Liverpool Street. If you find it easier to drive, there’s some onsite parking, while Chatham Way car park is a short walk away.
