We celebrate diversity because different people, with different perspectives make Sky a better business. Our customers are incredibly diverse, so we should be, too. That’s why we’re offering this Software Engineering insight week to candidates from a black heritage background.

Technology’s at the heart of everything we do, and we’re serious about supporting the next generation of talent. If you have a passion for coding and want to explore software delivery and programming principles this is the insight for you.

Apply for our insight week and we’ll give you behind the scenes access to our software engineering teams. This is your chance to see how Sky products and services are developed by one of the biggest agile teams in the UK. Sky products and services.
You don’t need a degree in computer science, but if you studied coding at university or code as a hobby then this is a great opportunity for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Experiment with coding virtually through our tech taster activities
  • An introduction to agile working, which is all about productivity and great results
  • Network with people working at Sky, from graduates to senior managers
  • Take part in skills sessions, designed to give you hints and tips to support you in your job application.


What you’ll get:
After this insight programme, you’ll be fully equipped with the information you need to consider a career in technology. We will give you the opportunity to apply for a 2022 summer internship or graduate scheme at Sky.

This digital insight week is taking place 29th March to 1st April 2021.

Who we’re looking for:
This Software Engineering digital insight week is targeted at students from a black heritage background. In addition, students must be in their 1st year of their undergraduate degree or 2nd year of a four-year degree.

  • Insight into finance within the media industry and the chance to take part in a mini finance project and presentation
  • Intro to CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification and our graduate program, including how to be successful
  • Take part in skills sessions, designed to give you hints and tips to support you in your job application
  • Virtually network with people working at Sky, from graduates to senior managers.

What you’ll get:
After this digital insight week, you’ll be fully equipped with the information you need to consider a career in Finance.

This insight week will take place between 6th April to 9th April 2021.

Do you want to be part of an organisation who celebrates diversity, where you can be yourself?
We understand that different people, with different perspectives make Sky a better business. Our customers are incredibly diverse, so we should be, too. That’s why we’re working hard to build an inclusive culture to help tackle racial injustice and improve diversity and inclusion across our organisation.
We are offering the opportunity to undergraduates from underrepresented groups to participate in a series of interactive learning workshops. The week is designed for candidates to experience our approach towards inclusion first-hand by introducing you to our Sky employer lead networks such as our Multicultural group.
The Early Careers team will provide additional support to upskill you and give you a better understanding of our programmes and #LifeAtSky.
When: 26th October – 30th October 2020
Timings: Various session will run between 12:00-17:00 each day. A full agenda will be provided, and session recorded so you can watch at your leisure.
Platform: TC4E

What to expect:

  • Diversity workshops – gain deeper understanding of Sky culture and the importance of inclusion
  • Skills sessions –designed to give you the tools to be successful at Sky
  • Introduction to our programmes – learn from our experts and gain application hints and tips
  • Networking – meet and greet the grads and interns on our programmes and speak to other employees across Sky.

Eligibility:
The inclusion week is aimed at undergraduates who identify within any underrepresented group and those who are an ally. We are actively encouraging people from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds, those who are Black, Asian and minority ethnic and women to apply.

However, we understand that diversity is very important, so whether you identify with these groups or are an ally and want to be educated around inclusion at Sky, you’re welcome to apply.

Questions will be included in event sign up to ascertain suitability. If we receive a large amount of applications, the above students will be prioritised.

Sky will present the Graduate Inclusion Week in collaboration with TARGETjobs.

Mama Youth Project

Looking for training and a paid placement? Mama Youth Project offers TV and media training programmes to 18-25 year olds from under-represented groups. Our partnership allows young people to develop their media skills on a range of projects, including the Sky One show, ‘What’s up TV’.
