Trainee Reporter and Journalist
This programme offers you the chance to join the experts at Sky Sports, which includes Sky Sports News, Sky Production Services and the 12 Sky Sports Channels.
Learn how they deliver their live sports coverage and sports news stories across their TV, digital and social media platforms. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the planning process and production prep. And work alongside talented reporters, producers, camera crews and gallery staff as well as production and operational support areas.
In this Creative Access 12-month programme, you’ll experience two six-month placements as Trainee Reporter and Journalist. These placements may involve potential travel and a variety of shift patterns.
Join the Sky Sports News reporting team delivering the stories that matter to sports fans in the UK and Ireland. Research and deliver stories across many sports, especially football. You’ll work quickly to develop great contacts, learn how a story starts and progresses. Understand how they gather and distribute news to all their platforms – TV, digital and social. You’ll also hit the road with our talented camera crews and be invited to help be a force for good through sports journalism that can make a difference and have real impact.

Assistant Producer with Digital/ Audio/ TV Production
This programme offers you the chance to join the experts at Sky News. You’ll learn how to deliver high quality coverage of news stories across our 24-hour multi-platform news operation. Get the inside scoop on our editorial process. Develop your researching, writing and editing skills. Work alongside their talented teams to create original and exciting content.

In this Creative Access 12-month programme, you’ll do six-month placements with two of the following teams: Digital, Audio or TV Production.
Learn how to compile the news – from planning, research and writing to the finished piece of content. Your role will include coming up with imaginative ideas for stories and contributors to help give Sky News the edge. Hone your writing skills for digital and broadcast and take this opportunity to work alongside some of the best digital, audio and TV producers and reports in the country.

A Creative Access placement at Sky Studios is a unique opportunity to experience how shows are made from start to finish. It’s a busy production environment, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with lots of different people in lots of different roles. You could be feeding back on scripts, writing editorial briefs or managing schedules. But, whatever you’re doing, you’ll be getting invaluable experience that will help you launch a successful career.

Editorial Assistant and Production Assistant
This programme offers you the chance to join the experts at Sky Studios, Drama and Comedy Production and Editorial departments as Editorial Assistant and Production Assistant.
With an ambition to more than double our investment in original content by 2024, Sky Studios funds, develops, commissions, and produces original drama, comedy and documentary for Sky’s 24 million customers and beyond. You’ll probably know some of our shows from the global smash hit Gangs of London to the critically acclaimed I Hate Suzie; from fan favourites like Brassic to one-off specials like Roald & Beatrix.
Learn how we create innovative and exciting stories from script to screen to entertain our customers on Sky Max, Sky Comedy and Sky Atlantic. Working alongside our fast-paced production and talented editorial teams, you’ll have an insight into how shows are developed, produced, delivered on time and budget and then distributed.
In this Creative Access 12-month programme, you’ll experience two six-month placements with the Drama and Comedy Teams as Editorial Assistant and Production Assistant.
Editorial Assistant
Working closely with the Development and Editorial teams in a dynamic environment, you’ll learn about the commissioning process and how shows are submitted, developed, produced and delivered to Sky.
You’ll also gain insight into the importance of the editorial briefs and what makes a Sky show stand out from the rest. In this role you’ll also help provide administrative support to the Sky Drama/ Comedy teams working closely with the Commissioning Editors and Production Execs.
Production Assistant
Working closely with the Production Management teams in a fast-moving environment, you’ll learn how a production needs to be supported by the broadcaster. You’ll help to implement Sky Steps to Greenlight and understand all the phases of the production process from prep through post-production to delivery.
You’ll gain insight and understanding of how and why the team interacts and communicates with the wider business to get shows made i.e. legal, business affairs, finance, distribution, music, compliance, marketing, social, press/PR and delivery.
Your role will be to work alongside the coordinators providing administrative support to the Sky Drama/Comedy production teams, working closely with the Production Execs, developing your skills to enable you to read and understand schedules, call sheets, progress reports, budgets, talent trackers, post-production delivery paperwork and key Sky protocols (eg. Environmental Sustainability guidelines).

The UK Content team are the central team for all decisions for Sky’s Entertainment portfolio. A placement on this team will help you understand how we make sure Sky customers are getting the content they want. The opportunities are huge – you could be reading scripts, liaising with production companies on viewings and delivery, testing out cast and crew or conducting analysis on whether a second series of a show should be commissioned. The team commission third party producers to make programming, so these are not hands-on production roles. If you’re interested in content, but aren’t sure exactly where you want your career to take you, this could be the placement for you.

Programme Strategy Assistant and Operations Assistant
The Content Team at Sky UK are responsible for commissioning, acquiring, and planning content across our many content and channel brands. There’s Sky Max, Sky Atlantic, Sky Witness and Sky Comedy. Then there’s the factual services Sky Crime, Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries. Not forgetting Sky Arts, the UK’s only channel dedicated to arts and culture. Our portfolio also includes Sky Cinema, Sky Kids and various free to air channels.
This is a unique opportunity to see how Channels come together, working alongside the many departments involved in creating Sky’s entertainment portfolio. While we do not directly make programmes in the UK Content team, we are across all stages of production whether that be for commissioned or acquired programming.

Programme Strategy Assistant
In this role you’ll learn how to use research and insight to understand audience behaviours, and to curate, deliver and manage engaging content plans. Your role will also include screening potential titles for our content brands as well as contributing to content discussions, providing editorial feedback and keeping track of the wider content trends that will inform long-term planning decisions.
Operations Assistant
Working alongside our Rights Management and Music teams, you’ll use Silvermouse software (full training provided) to ensure delivery paperwork for non-scripted commissioned productions is complete and correct. You’ll be “the face” of Sky when liaising with independent production companies, giving you an end-to-end view of the commissioning process. You’ll also support the wider team by responding to ad hoc media and clip requests and looking after edit requests for commissioners, senior management, PR and more.
Sky Studios Elstree

Client Services Trainee and Operations Trainee
Advance your career in TV or film career through this placement alongside the team engaging with clients who work with Sky Studios Elstree.
In this Creative Access 12-month programme, you’ll experience two six-month placements.
The focus will be on providing administrative support across all departmental areas, gaining an in-depth understanding of the requirements and expectations that HETV and Feature Film productions have when shooting at a world class Studio facility.
Client Services Trainee
Reporting into the Client Services team and the Commercial Director, you’ll be part of the team that is the primary point of contact for clients coming into the Sky Studios Elstree.
Operations Trainee
Reporting into the Operations team and the Operations Director, you’ll be part of the team that manages the day-to-day production activity at the Studios.
Senior Runner
Working as a flexible resource in support of all departments across Sky Studios Elstree, the runners team has a critical role to play in ensuring that Studio users have a first class production experience whilst working at Sky Studios Elstree.
As a Senior Runner, you’ll spend 6 months within the Client Services team and 6 months in the Operations team and will be a key liaison point between the Running team, Client Services and Operations, Facilities and Productions.
You’ll be coordinating team runners to ensure the provision of first-class customer service to support the clients working at Sky Studios Elstree. This role supports a wide breadth of teams across the site such as Production Reps, Operations, Facilities and more with activities such as taking calls, calendar maintenance, meeting and recce coordination. You’ll also assist in the onboarding of new production crews as well as provide on-set runner service if required by production.
