Business strategy rotational graduate programme

Managing a world-class brand. Defining a five-year strategy. Developing your skills in a challenging commercial role. This programme lets you do any and all of it before choosing the area of our business you want to specialise in.

What to
expect

Four different rotations over the space of two years. We’ll help you find the ones that are best for you and your career aspirations. Some could focus on branding or marketing. Others on the strategy or commercial side of our business. All of them will present challenges and opportunities you won’t find anywhere else.

How you’ll

Hit the ground running and get stuck into complex projects right from the start. You’ll have lots of talented and supportive people around you to learn from. And there will be opportunities for you to develop amazing business skills. By the end of the programme, you should be more than ready to move into your first permanent role at Sky.

Working with best in class marketing teams. Owning implementation and delivery of campaigns and activity that fundamentally champion our Sky content and products. Could be owning the creative strategy for a core product (e.g. what do we want Idris to do for this one). Working across digital platforms, on social, print and with influencers.

Commercial
Looking 3-12 months in range. How many subscriptions might we get if we secure X football match? How much money would that make us? How do we make the user journey better? All about growing our products so they’re reaching and appealing to as many people as possible.

Propositions
Longer term, tracking customer habits over time, do they want contracts or no contracts, what does the customer want in the future and how do we get that to the customer? What are our product development strategies and what should we be moving it in the future?

Trading
Heartbeat of the business, how does Sky make money, seeing daily the cogs of the company and how a big corporate works. What’s going well, what’s going badly. What do we need to change and how are we going to change it?

Commercial Content Strategy
The Content Team at Sky UK are responsible for commissioning, acquiring and Planning content across our multiple content & channel brands including Sky Max, Sky Atlantic and Sky Cinema. This team creates and manages the content story for Sky ensuring a continuous and ever evolving offering for Sky Customers, that meets all business KPIs.

Group Supply
Supply Chain deliver over 20 million items a year to our customers, our engineers, our Technology colleagues who manage the infrastructure that supports our products and services, and to our Retail estate. We cover demand forecasting, stock management, warehousing and distribution, through to customer returns, repairs and recycling of engineer and customer waste.

Register

This is the easy part. Simply register your details and provide your academic information. That’s all there is to it.

Digital assessments

As part of the application process you’ll complete our immersive digital assessments. One of these assessments will include a video interview. If you’re applying for any of our finance and software engineering programmes, we’ll also be assessing specific skills. For finance, we’ll ask you to complete a numerical reasoning test. For software engineering, you’ll take part in additional digital assessment where you can show us your coding skills.

Ready to go? Here are some hints and tips to get you started:

  • Find somewhere quiet where you won’t get distracted
  • It might help to turn off your phone or keep it on silent
  • Open a new browser window or close any tabs you aren’t currently using
  • Have a pen, some paper and calculator to hand
  • Get camera ready. Make sure you’re in a tidy, well-lit space with good internet connection. And of course, test your audio and webcam to check that they’re working fine. We’ll give you some more instructions to help you get set up
  • To get you in the swing of things, you’ll get some time to practice recording your answers. Make the most of this so you’re ready for your final take
  • We know it might feel a little strange but try and treat the video interview like you would any interview. Dress comfortably, smile and keep focussed on the camera
  • And finally, we’re excited to get to know you. Be yourself. Always provide answers that best represent you and what you would do in a given situation.

Assessment centre

For the final assessment stage, we’ll invite you to our offices. You’ll get the opportunity to impress us in person and get a feel for what it’s really like to work at Sky.

It’s normal to be nervous but we’re on hand to help you along the way. To prepare, do your research about Sky and come ready to demonstrate your skills and passion. Think about what’s motivated you to apply to work here. We’re keen to hear more about you.

The day could include an individual interview, group discussion or individual exercise. We’ll give you plenty of notice and let you know how best to prepare for these activities. And while it may seem obvious, make sure you plan your journey ahead of time.
