Job Description
Join us and build a streaming platform used by millions.
At Sky Czech Republic, we’re building the tech backbone behind some of the world’s biggest streaming services. Ever heard of Peacock in the US or Sky Showtime across Europe, including the Czech Republic? They all run on our global streaming platform — a shared technological core where each service plugs in its own content and brand.
Our platform serves millions of users worldwide — Peacock alone reaches over 40 million viewers in the US. Thousands of engineers across the globe help shape it, and our Prague tech hub plays a key role. We don’t just keep things running; we actively push the boundaries of streaming technology together with teams in Lisbon, London, and New York.
In Prague, we work across a wide range of engineering domains: frontend development (mobile, TV, and web), backend (Java), platform engineering, content delivery networks, video playback (Golang), and data engineering (Python). Whatever your focus, you’ll work on technology used at truly global scale.
What is the plot?
You’ll join the Developer Experience team, part of the broader Developer Platform Engineering organization spanning London, Prague, and Lisbon. Our team owns the GST Internal Developer Portal, a centralized hub for service discovery, documentation, and developer tooling. It’s the front door to the platform—and we’re expanding the team to take it to the next level.
We work closely with platform teams across CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure to ensure developers have a seamless experience from idea to production. We also support internal users through our support workstream, helping troubleshoot issues, gathering feedback, and continuously improvingthe platform.
We achieve this by:
Keeping the needs of tenants at the center of our work
Partnering with tenants to solve problems collaboratively
Educating tenants to foster independence
Maintaining multiple communication channels
Using automation and self-help tools to empower users
Reviewing effectiveness frequently and based on evidence
Providing tooling and spaces for platform insights
What role will you play?
As a Platform Engineer focused on Developer Experience, you’ll help evolve the Internal Developer Portal, contribute to backend plugins and platform integrations, and ensure the platform is intuitive and reliable. You’ll also take part in the team’s support rota, helping triage issues, improve documentation, and provide direct assistance to tenants—ensuring developers across the company have the tools they need to build, deploy, and operate services efficiently.
You’ll be part of an engineering-led team where decisions are made collaboratively and bottom-up. We value every engineer’s input and prioritize solutions that reduce complexity for our internal customers—other developers. Internal usage of our tools is a key quality benchmark, and we measure success through developer outcomes and service-level indicators.
Most of our Internal Developer Portal development to date has focused on backend plugins and platform integrations. You’ll be working primarily in this space, contributing to tooling that supports CI/CD, observability, and service discovery.
Your daily tasks
Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of platform capabilities that improve the developer experience
Respond to high-priority incidents and bugs, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to tenants
Participate in roadmap execution and backlog delivery, turning ideas into working solutions
Write and maintain internal documentation, tests and onboarding guides

What you will bring

Strong background in platform engineering, including experience with container orchestration and cloud-native tooling
Experience with CI/CD workflows, especially GitHub Actions
Empathy for developers as customers, and a commitment to improving their experience
Experience designing solutions that are reliable by default and tested rigorously
Independence, a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Developer Portal frameworks (i.e. Backstage, especially backend plugin development) and Software Catalog data modeling.
Comfortable reading and writing Golang code, with a willingness to upskill and deepen your expertise in this area
Experience with observability tools and metrics (e.g., Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus)
