In Prague, we work across a wide range of engineering domains: frontend development (mobile, TV, and web), backend (Java), platform engineering, content delivery networks, video playback (Golang), and data engineering (Python). What is the plot?
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Platform Engineer to drive improvements and new features for our multi-CDN services, supporting the Web and API traffic for our Global Streaming Platform.
Our department provides the platform infrastructure and capabilities for our developers, SREs, and client teams. By fostering innovation and maintaining stability, we ensure that our teams can efficiently build and support cutting-edge solutions that meet our customers' needs. You'll be supporting an exciting roadmap of enhancements that span multiple teams.
What role will you play?
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll be joining our Edge Delivery team which consists of team members based in Prague and London. You will be working with various developers and engineers from other teams located across Prague, the United Kingdom, Lisbon, and the Unites States of America.
Expect to leverage your experience with managing multi-CDN technologies like Akamai and Fastly to optimize web traffic performance and reliability. You will collaborate with a team of engineers, architecting solutions, and ensuring seamless integration and operation of CDN services.
Your daily tasks:
Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers in the design, implementation, and management of multi-CDN environments.
Continuously monitor CDN performance, analyze metrics, and troubleshoot issues to maintain high availability and low latency.
Work with edge technologies to enhance CDN capabilities and improve user experience for global streaming services.
Ensure seamless integration and performance of Web and API services across multiple CDNs.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and security, to ensure cohesive support for streaming services.
Implement security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for CDN and edge services.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of CDN configurations and provide regular performance reports.
To partake in the team support and on-call rota for services managed by the team for our multi-CDN estate and services (DNS, Certificate Management, CDN IAM/RBAC, CDN observability).
What skills do you need to play your role well?
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with Terraform. Experience with Pulumi is a plus.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
Proficiency in networking protocols, load balancing, and traffic management. Strong understanding of web traffic optimization and caching strategies.
Self-proficient in driving and owning project and deliverable milestones.
Good priority and time management skills. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Understanding of security practices and ability to implement security measures.
Familiarity with some of the programming or scripting languages such as Go, Python, or TypeScript.
Experience in CDN providers (e.g., Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly) would be considered a plus.
