Helping each other be brilliant 

We’re Malika, David and Shabaz,  Sales Advisors at Sky. We know first-hand how important working as a team is in helping us feel at ease and ready to have brilliant conversations with customers. And it’s not just each other’s support we receive. Sky supports us and gives us all the training we need to go further in our career.

Getting up to speed

We joined at different times, but we were all enrolled onto a two-week induction and development training course. Not only did the programme teach us about the latest Sky products, it also gave us the confidence we needed to approach and chat with customers. Continued trainingWhile on the Sky stand, we have daily catch-ups with our manager to make sure we’re on track to achieve our latest goals and are ready for the day ahead. We also have regular one-to-ones with our Area Manager to chat about anything from holidays to career development.And that’s not all. Every month we’re invited to take part in Time to Learn training sessions. This helps us keep on top of the latest offers and products. We’re also given our own iPads equipped with the Retail Portal – a platform that’s updated with specific product information.Even life outside Sky is taken care of. Our roles offer great flexibility. Malika says, “Once I had my child, I needed my hours to change. It wasn’t a problem for Sky: they let me fit my life around my job and that’s just one of the reasons why I’ve been here for almost 11 years.”

Keeping each other motivated

We’re a pretty friendly bunch. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, so try to play to those the best we can. Yes, we have our personal sales targets, but we have shared goals too, so we always keep one another motivated. After all, it’s a lot easier to meet our goals when we work together.

And if customers feel the team are enjoying themselves, they’re much more likely to approach us. We always aim to give our customers a positive experience: we’re proud when they leave our stand with a smile and the entertainment package they’ve always wanted!
