What were your first impressions of the team and company culture? The team was very welcoming, funny and helpful, a great group of people that I really enjoy working with and talking to.
What’s your career journey been like up until now? My career journey up until this point has been nothing short of fantastic. I feel I always have access to the assistance I may need from my colleagues, the guidance and encouragement I could want from my manager and the general atmosphere around the office makes this a place I really want to work and see success, both for myself in my career and my department as a team.
If you were considering jobs with other companies at the time what made you choose your next career step with Sky? I was not considering other companies at the time, however what made me want to leave O2 to join Sky was how positively people I knew who worked here spoke of the job and company, mostly my brother Jack. And upon starting here, it’s very easy to see why that’s the case.
Now that you’re settled in a little, what are you most looking forward to / aspirations? I am very much looking forward to growing as an employee with my team and mastering the systems and work ethic necessary to really excel in my role. I can clearly see that the tools are there, now it’s up to me to master every aspect and do my best.
What have you been most impressed with so far? The work ethic of everyone in the contact centre springs straight to mine. Nothing is ever too much trouble for someone, if you ask for help because you aren’t sure, they will be straight there. And beyond that there is encouragement and advice from my manager that is absent in other jobs I’ve had. He wants me to do well and is more than happy to assist, encourage and best of all, acknowledge a job well done.
What does a typical day working here look like for you? Half of my day is making outbound calls to potential customers, and speaking to them about how Sky can be beneficial to their business and what it can do for them. The other half is spent taking inbound calls from a number of sources. Sometimes it’s customers looking for quotes for Sky and sometimes it’s keying on the sales of our field team.
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career? Personally, I would say have a very clear vision of where you want to be career-wise and assess what you need to do to get there. Once you have that clearly in your mind, work tirelessly to achieve it.
