"My proudest moment was when I supported the successful renegotiation of the business’ MVNO deal."
Name: Alex Reichl
Job title: Strategy Manager
What area of Sky do you work in? SPG (Strategic Planning Group)
What’s your career journey been like up until now? After graduating with a degree in economics I spent 5 years working in Technology consulting, developing my understanding of communications businesses and networks. Following a brief stint as an economic consultant I moved to the strategy team where I have been able to combine both the technology and economic interests.
What does a typical day working here look like for you? There isn’t really a typical day. The work can vary massively dependent on the projects I am working on at the time, from building models in excel to workshops with business stakeholders and developing insights into long term business developments with my colleagues in the strategy team.
What’s been your proudest moment since working here? Supporting the successful renegotiation of the business’ MVNO deal.
What’s the most enjoyable thing about your job? Working with a group of intelligent people, where ideas and suggestions are considered worthy of debate and discussion. Nothing here gets shot down without examining if there is value in it.
Describe your work/life balance? Relative to my time in consulting, I have a lot more time for life! There is considerable flexibility with work location and hours which is great for managing commitments and deadlines both within work and outside.
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career? Take the opportunities that come your way and talk to others about what they’re up to, you never know what doors it might open.
An interesting fact/something no one else knows about you? I spent two summers helping build a new accommodation block at an orphanage in Argentina.
