What area of Sky do you work in? Data Intelligence
What’s your career journey been like up until now? I spent several years specialising in Digital Marketing (in particular Email marketing and Paid Media), working in both the automotive and the Digital Marketing agency industries.
What does a typical day working here look like for you? A typical day would include speaking with stakeholders about their campaigns, understanding what they want to achieve and who they want to target. Then using my Adobe Campaign knowledge to advise them on how we can achieve the result that they are looking for. The rest of my day would be spent building the workflows within Adobe Campaign, manipulating the data to ensure the right people receive the right deliveries at the right time. I’m also constantly looking to optimise workflows to run quicker and to provide new opportunities for future campaigns.
If you’ve been here over one year, how have you made a difference in your role? When I joined my role was focused around building basic BAU’s, with very basic testing frameworks such as A/B tests including subject line and creatives. Now my role is to deliver a higher volume of campaigns with more personalised and complex targeting, and automating workflows when possible in order to allow us to spend more time on more strategic campaigns instead of BAU’s.
What’s been your proudest moment since working here? I worked on the NOWTV Sports automation workflow that delivered all BAU email communications regarding Football fixtures without the need for human involvement on a daily/weekly basis. This workflow manipulates data from Datameer and sends our customers content based on their favourite team preference and viewing history. Our automated workflow and dynamic HTML templates allow us to achieve this and present out customers with more personalised and relevant content. As a result, this allows us to spend our time on more strategic and complex campaigns.
What’s the most enjoyable thing about your job? Having the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders and to share my knowledge of Adobe Campaign with them.
Describe your work/life balance? Despite having to spend over 4 hours travelling to and from work everyday, I don’t really have a problem balancing work/life. The excellent facilities here allow me to go to places such as the gym during my lunch break which helps to keep me refreshed and work towards my personal goals. Although I have very long days, I wouldn’t change it for the world. The option to work from home really helps me when unsuspected travel delays or emergencies prevent me from travelling to the office, yet doesn’t prevent me from getting my work done.
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career? Always take every opportunity to learn something new. The business offers a wide array of training courses for free, and with teams of highly skilled professionals, there’s always something new you can learn to expand your skillset and advance your career.
An interesting fact/something no one else knows about you? At the age of 14 I became a Black Belt 2nd Dan in Ju Jitsu, before “retiring” and switching my commitment to competitive swimming where I represented the county on several occasions.
