'This was an opportunity I couldn't find anywhere else'
What’s your background?
Before starting at Sky I had worked for a few months in marketing roles to gain commercial experience, and had also completed a summer internship within the Government Economic Service.
What attracted you to working for Sky?
I was attracted to Sky as both the Strategy role and the company gives insight into the media and tech industries while allowing me to gain commercial experience. This was an opportunity I couldn’t find anywhere else. In the past year, I’ve been in a project management role, working on Sky VIP (Sky’s loyalty programme) and Netflix & Spotify programmes. This mainly involved helping run the project’s forums and governance that enabled all the different teams to communicate effectively.
What are the best perks of working for Sky?
The offices at Sky are exceptional and it’s easy to eat well at a decent price. My favourite of Sky’s perks is definitely the free TV – Sky Q, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, the lot. On Sky Atlantic I enjoyed watching dramas like Patrick Melrose and Sharp Objects.
How would you describe the culture and people at Sky in a few words?
Open, collaborative, knowledgeable
What advice can you give to future applicants?
For your application, make sure you know all of what Sky does, and give examples of how your previous experience would fit the role. If you can, use your University’s careers service. Mine was invaluable in offering another opinion on my written application. Good luck!
