Meet Maya, one of our 2018 Strategy Interns
'There were always team members on hand to answer my questions'
What learning and development opportunities did you get on the Sky Strategy Internship?
I worked on three projects during the six-week internship: one individual and two group projects. I had the opportunity to present these projects several times, including at the team’s monthly meeting to the whole team. To support me, the team offered training in presentation skills, data sourcing, Excel and financial modelling. In addition, there were always members of the team on hand to answer any questions I had. Finally, at the end of the internship, I got detailed verbal and written feedback.
How would you describe the culture and people at Sky in a few words?
Approachable, team-oriented, impressive
What are your hobbies and interests?
I am passionate about music, both performing (violin and piano) and composing. I also enjoy getting involved in theatre by producing and marketing shows. My other hobbies include cycling, golf, baking and photography.
Do you have any advice for potential applicants to the Strategy Internship?
The key thing is to know Sky and the industry as well as you can. You can start by looking in detail at the Sky website, as well as articles about the industry, for example in The Economist, The Financial Times and other national newspapers. You should also be clear on why you are applying to the internship and show this passion through your application and the interview process. If you are considering applying, I would thoroughly recommend you do as I very much enjoyed my internship and I learnt so many new skills
