What’s your name, and what is your role at Sky?
Hi! My name is Shiv. I am currently a Home Service Ambassador at Sky, as well as the Time to Care Lead for Home Service.
What led you to join the Women in Home Service programme at Sky?
Throughout my life, I’ve always been in customer facing jobs; whether it’s been in retail or hospitality. I came across in the Women in Home Service programme on the very first one, and I haven’t regretted it since.
Getting a bit more hands-on, learning about the technical side of how the equipment works and being a lot more physical has pushed me into the Home Service area.
What engineering experience did you have before joining Sky?
When I moved over to Home Service, I had zero experience when it came to the physical side; carrying ladders, drilling holes, and all of that jazz.
What training did you receive upon joining Sky?
The training was great. Whenever I left a training session; whether it was that physical side or whether it was that customer service and sales side, I always felt that I knew what I needed to do. They made sure that you were confident with what you were doing before you left.
I was also given more training to help me develop my coaching skills, which obviously ensured that we were supporting the field in the best way possible.
Moving from role to role, you are always given the correct support that you need and allowing you to develop in the right ways.
What’s been your biggest career achievement so far at Sky?
My greatest career achievement with Sky has definitely come within the last eight to nine months.
I have had the opportunity to sit in the Ambassador Manager role. It’s given me so much more experience in different areas, as well as helping build my knowledge and confidence around dealing with certain situations.
What other projects have you been involved with at Sky?
Alongside that, I was also given the opportunity to help lead our brand new Times to Care programme in Sky, which is all about helping tackle loneliness across the UK. I’ve been with it since the start. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first-hand what effect it can have on our older customers and older members of the community.
Hearing some of the stories and knowing that Sky are doing something to help those people really, really, is something to be super proud of.
