Hannah’s experience as a DTV Engineer
‘The people I work with are the best’

Hannah Millard
DTV Engineer
How did you decided you want a career in Engineering?
I got into engineering as it was something I always wanted to do. Working outside, connecting with customers and having the pride to wear the uniform. No one gave me a chance as I was female, and Sky did.
Have you faced any challenges in your role and how did you overcome them?
I have faced a lot of challenges, mainly people being shocked that I am female and that I am on my own to do the job – and to be fair, it’s probably these people that I get the most reward from. I get the job done to the best of my ability.
The people I work with are the best. All of us engineers, all of the managers, everyone. We are all one team.
How would you encourage more women to consider Engineering as a career?
I am almost 40. I knew nothing about this job when I started, only facts and figures.
It’s proved to me what I can do. I love going up ladders, I am safe, I am trained and I am proud to wear my uniform. I never want to do anything else.
