Home Service Apprenticeships
My name is Callum, I am the Apprenticeship Recruitment Business Partner here at Sky – responsible for the recruitment across all of our customer service opportunities including those within our Contact Centres and our Home Service Engineering roles.
For our Home Service opportunities, we are recruiting for a number of locations across England and Scotland. Please be aware due to the travel requirements of this role you will be required to live in the areas listed in the job description. For further information on the roles and locations available, please visit the sky early careers page where you will find all roles listed and the locations that they cover.
Our home service engineers are the Sky employees that visit customer’s residence to install Sky equipment; whether that be the Sky TV boxes, whether that be broadband routers or whether that be installing satellite dishes onto customers houses. For our home service apprentices, we are looking for a number of skills; firstly they must be passionate about Sky and willing to learn as much as possible.
You’ll spend the first six months of your role shadowing a mentor. They will show you all the ropes within the Sky home service business. As well as that, we are looking for people who are great at building and maintaining relationships, both within Sky and with our colleagues.
Alongside that, from a logistical standpoint, all candidates must have a full UK driving licence with no more than six points. When joining sky’s Home Service Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll form part of a cohort of apprentices, both new and current. As well as that, you’ll spend the first six months of your role learning and developing from your manager or senior colleague.
Once you finish that six months training, you’ll start visiting jobs by yourself – however, you will still have regular contact with your managers and still have regular training sessions with some of the other apprentices. All of our Home Service apprentices will be supported through a customer service qualification.
Upon completion of our home service apprenticeship programme, previous apprentices have gone on to lead teams lead field units as well as managing new apprentices that come into the business, and they continue to show their support towards growing Sky’s apprenticeship programmes.
While working in our home service teams, our apprentices can expect a number of benefits from day one; we do get free Sky Q, free mobile and discounts off broadband – as well as that, you will get a company van, company iPad, a company mobile, a competitive salary and great career progression and opportunities.
When applying for our home service apprenticeship program please be aware that no previous technical experience is required, you will develop all the technical skills needed through our initial training period. What we’re looking for is for motivated individuals who will deliver great customer service.
