Kiran Muralidharan
Job title
Campaign Executive
What area of Sky do you work in?
NOW TV, Strategic Insights
Describe the recruitment, interview and on-boarding process:
I applied via the Sky Careers website. A member from the recruitment team called and we had an informal chat about the role. I was invited for an interview which consisted of competency-based questions and a general chat about myself and my career aspirations. It was also a good opportunity for me to ask questions I had about the role. After that, I was invited to a final interview, which involved creating a presentation outlining how I would create a campaign.
What were your first impressions of the team and company culture?
My first impressions of the team were very positive. All the line managers have a lot of experience and knowledge and there were a few new starters at my level as well, which gave me a strong impression that team are looking to develop us all and help us reach our potential.
What’s your career journey been like up until now?
I worked for O2 within the B2B Operations Team, as part of my placement year at Uni, which had given me a good understanding of how large organisations worked, which meant that I had no issues settling in at Sky/NOW TV. After Graduating, I worked for a start-up gaming company, in a CRM role.
If you were considering jobs with other companies at the time what made you choose your next career step with Sky?
Sky is Europe’s largest entertainment company and the opportunity to work alongside people who have contributed towards Sky’s success, was too good to pass up.
Now that you’re settled in a little, what are you most looking forward to/aspirations?
To keep learning and contribute towards the continued success of NOW TV and Sky as a whole.
What have you been most impressed with so far?
The diversity of the people that work here. There are so many people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences that work here and for me, it provides a great platform to learn and develop.
What does a typical day working here look like for you?
So far, I don’t think there has been a typical day yet! Our team usually work on a whole range of campaigns, which will either need building or QA’ing. There is also a whole host of Skill Share Sessions, as well as training courses that we are encouraged to do on LinkedIn and MySkyDevelopment, which could involve learning SQL, to enhancing our project and stakeholder management skills.
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career?
You’ll get out what you put in! So don’t be afraid to ask questions (however stupid you may think you are) and put forward your own ideas and suggestions – coming in with a fresh set of eyes and perspectives could help your team massively!
