What area of Sky do you work in?
Sky Business
What does a typical day working here look like for you?
My day can mean anything. I start with a plan however due to the fast paced environment we have to adapt to what the business prioritise. I get to be creative in my role which excites me daily
What’s the most enjoyable thing about your job?
When I get my hands on a project and get to see it through from start to finish. Its amazing to see the positive impact it can have on all users
So, you’ve recently been promoted, tell us a little about your previous role and what’s changed
I was a Sales Account Consultant for Sky business which meant selling Sky Sports to the likes of Pubs and Hotels. It was great to have conversations with customers on how our products can improve their business. I have sold a range of products in my life but none compare to selling Sky Sports! Everything has changed for me now. I now concentrate on what improvements and development needs my colleagues want which feels like I’m now selling to them rather than customers.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I look forward to learning more about the role and cementing my position as a full time Learning and Development Consultant. There is so much to learn, and I look forward to it every day.
What’s been your proudest moment since working here?
I’ve had so many! My overall proudest moment will be the recognition I receive from my colleagues and stakeholders. Sometimes being in a new role you question every move you make to ensure you’re doing the right thing, but with the support from my colleagues it has eased me into my role and I now deliver my work with confidence.
Describe your work/life balance?
It has never been better. I can switch off at 5pm and forget about work until 9am the next day. However, with the love of the job I sometimes take my work home with me and I still feel very balanced
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career?
Just go for it! You will never know if you can do it unless you put yourself out there and try. I always say it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for my career.
An interesting fact/something no one else knows about you?
I met the Brazilian Ronaldo in Ibiza and we had a whale of a time!…. He only shook my hand at the airport which was enough for me
