Discover how to be a Sales Manager
‘Growth of AdSmart in Scotland has increased by 50% YoY since its launch in 2014 and I’m proud to have been responsible for delivering that.’
What’s your career journey been like up until now?
Prior to working here, I’ve spent 20 years working in Auto Retail in roles that have allowed me to have a good appreciation of what is and is not effective media.
What does a typical day working here look like for you?
It can be really quite varied. In one day. I can be invited to sit through a creative meetings with a client, creating bespoke proposals for that clients AdSmart campaign, to sales prospecting and presenting at events to 100 people. Working remotely from the team means that you have to be a self-starter and make really strong relationships with our Osterley team.
If you’ve been here over one year, how have you made a difference in your role?
Growth of AdSmart in Scotland has increased by 50% YoY since its launch in 2014 and I’m proud to have been responsible for delivering that, but there is still a lot more that can be achieved and I’m working hard on delivering that.
What’s been your proudest moment since working here?
Presenting to 450 Sky Media staff at our half year forum in 2016.
What’s the most enjoyable thing about your job?
No two days are the same. The pace of each day is fast and that keeps me on my toes!
Describe your work/life balance?
Let’s just say that I can juggle really well. I try to make a point of packing in the weekend with going away in the caravan, taking the dogs for a long walk (come rain or shine), taking my daughter swimming, soft play and seeing her friends and most importantly, having friends or family around for dinner means that if its been a busy week with being away with work, I feel that I have balanced the books by the time Monday morning rolls around.
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career?
Make your aspirations clear to your Manager and engage with the larger organisation. It’s easy to get caught up in your day to day job but career development here is such an opportunity that you should grab it with both hands.
An interesting fact/something no one else knows about you?
I travelled around Australia for a year and ended up in hospital after being bitten by an infectious spider!
