Gabi’s work experience story in Sky Creative
‘My week at Sky was an experience like no other.’

Gabi
My week at Sky was an experience like no other, I met many different people each day and they were all a pleasure to be around, friendly, enthusiastic and most importantly: passionate about what they do.
It’s no surprise that they enjoy life at Sky, once you set foot on-site you are surrounded by excitement and opportunity. I spent a week in Sky Creative, where I visited a different department each day, ranging from Promo Creatives to VFX and everything in between. As a media graduate and aspiring filmmaker, to be able to see first-hand what goes in to creating promos and marketing materials for upcoming TV shows was incredible.
Everybody I spoke to was eager to tell us all about what they do in a typical day and were keen to show us demonstrations. It was a busy week, but incredibly organised and well-timed. My main point of contact was a lovely woman named Gabriella, who greeted us with a friendly smile each day and was keen to ensure I knew exactly where to go each day. If unsure about anything, I was able to ask questions and learn more. Everyone had positive, welcoming personalities, which was definitely one of the highlights of my week!
I even got the chance to explore Sky a little more on my last day of work experience and visited Sky’s beautiful on-site cinema and the Sky Ocean Rescue experience. There is never a dull moment at Sky, there is always something to explore and keep you busy. The site boasts several brilliant restaurants so you can try something new each day, and there is a positive atmosphere all around.
As a creative person, seeing every different department within Sky Creative was a rewarding and fulfilling experience. I particularly enjoyed seeing the VFX and Sky News departments; walking in to real studios and being able to see what goes on behind the scenes was so exciting, and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to do so. While not a sports fan, I also particularly loved visiting the Sport Design department and seeing the work that goes in to creating promos for the channel.
My time at Sky was an incredible experience, and one that I will remember forever. If given the opportunity, I would do it all again and feel privileged to have been given the chance to take part in such a brilliant, enriching week lead by wonderful people.
