I work in Network Service Delivery, Tech-UK Operations based in London
How long have you worked at Sky?
3 years
How many roles have you had since you’ve been at Sky?
2 roles
What’s your top tip or advice for someone looking to develop their career?
My advice for someone wanting to get into tech is to be up to date with latest technologies as things change fast in the tech world, take advantage of online resources and attend industry events.
What do you specialise in?
Sky Business providing network services to other ISPs on a wholesale basis. I’m here to deliver and support variations of the Wholesale Ethernet Product, the service which provides connectivity to end customer locations.
What does a typical day for you look like?
My role involves variety of tasks from working on a ticket based system to having calls with customers and project management teams. So every day in the morning I check over my emails and meeting times through my calendar as well as the tickets assigned to me and see what my workload is looking like. The market for Ethernet connectivity is growing fast and the business expands wholesale connectivity offering by partnering with so many new customers. When on boarding new wholesalers we are a lot busier than usual. We accommodate the new customers, as well as rolling out new circuits for current ones and maintaining the service too. It’s challenging mainly because I’m the only one assigned to Wholesale Ethernet in my team, but this made it all the more interesting and I know whenever I need help my colleagues will be there for me.
What’s the best thing about working at Sky?
There are so many good things about working here. One of them is the team work, delivering wholesale service is a genuine team effort. Everyone across the business I know all do their best to get things done and are always looking for new ways to make things better for our partners. I believe working across departments is important as it’ll help foster better working relationships and understand the bigger picture at work.
