Marketing Summer Placement

Making sure that people know about Sky’s amazing products and services is the job of our Marketing team. To do this effectively it means they’re experts in everything Sky, and know a lot about our customers too.

Duration: 8 weeks

About the programme

Joining us for a Summer Placement your role will support the team in making sure that our existing, prospective and new customers know all about our products and how to use them. You could work on a range of projects including direct mail or digital advertising campaigns, understanding how we manage the relationship with our customers efficiently, helping to deliver insight which underpins our strategies or promoting our prized asset, our TV shows.

Working on exciting projects from the initial planning stages and seeing them through to execution is just one of the rewarding aspects of this role. In a fast paced, creative environment, you’ll quickly learn to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks whilst working on various marketing campaigns, researching and planning projects with the rest of your team.

Software Academy Summer Placement

Work with our award-winning Software Development teams and create exciting new technologies to make sure Sky stays ahead of the game.

Duration: 6-8 weeks
Requirements: You’ll currently be studying at university and in your penultimate year. If you’ve already graduated, please see our graduate opportunities.

About the programme

Technology is at the heart of our business, developing new products and services to provide our customers with the best possible experience. In Software Engineering, the team write brilliant, incredibly detailed software that delivers for our customers. 

This is your chance to see how one of the biggest Agile teams in the UK works in practice to develop products and services for our customers and Sky as a business. You’ll spend your summer working with a team of Associate Software Developers. You’ll participate in a variety of activities and get the chance to have a go at a number of coding languages which, in addition, will help you develop your skills whether you are new to coding or have been doing it for a while.

Finance Summer Placement

Work on a real business project with either our finance or commercial teams.

If you’d love to work in TV then come to Sky and we’ll give you 11 months’ paid experience before you head off to uni or start your next job. Whether you’re a sports fanatic, a box set binge-watcher, filmmaker or simply can’t stop checking the news, there’s a placement here for you.You’ll work with brilliant teams, gain industry skills, boost your confidence and make friends for life.

Exclusively for Year 13 students in our partner schools in Hounslow, this 11-month paid placement offers you the chance to work in Sky Sports, Sky News, Entertainment, Creative, or Sky Production Services. 

Duration: 11 months
Requirements: Year 13 in a partner Hounslow School

Application Process 

If you are successful in your application you will be invited to a 30 minute phone interview in February. The next application step will be attending an assessment day which will take place in March and will involve a group exercise, interview and a tour of the Sky site.

NFTS Graphics and Titles for Television and Film Diploma

The course combines practical experience on TV Entertainment; Science and Natural History; and Sports shows with industry work experience and intensive training.

Duration: 12 months including a four-week internship at Sky
Requirements: A graphics design qualification at degree level is beneficial and a portfolio of graphics work is preferred.

About the programme

The National Film and Television School's Graphics and Titles Diploma equips students with the specialist skills to become a film and television graphic designer. As part of the course, students receive a four-week placement at Sky. Students will gain the expertise to work on multiple complex projects within the industry and will become innovators and experts in this field. 

An interest in graphic design and motion graphics for television and an ability to work to deadlines as part of a team are essential. We are looking for people who can marry good design with computer animation packages.

NFTS Creative Digital Producing Diploma

This 12-month programme teaches the digital skills required to build and engage audiences around films and television programmes online.

Duration: 12 months including a six-week internship at Sky
Requirements: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a knowledge and passion of television/film/online. They will be able to provide detail of past achievements and demonstrate a clear focus for their future ambitions.

About the programme

This National Film and Television School diploma course teaches the digital skills required to build and engage audiences around films, games and TV programmes. Students build the knowledge to extend, develop and compliment ‘traditional’ television formats in a digital capacity working across apps, games and social media channels including Facebook and YouTube.

Students develop and produce innovative content for the web and multi-platform 'digital extensions' for film and television.

All students receive mentoring from Sky and will complete a six-week internship at Sky. One student will receive a three month paid placement at the end of the course.

NFTS Cameras, Sound and Vision Mixing for Television Production

Practical training for students in a professional studio environment, including a six-week internship at Sky.

Duration: 12 months including a six-week internship at Sky
Requirements: A proven interest in multi-camera production and television entertainment. Successful applicants will be practical minded and have strong team working skills.

About the programme

The National Film and Television School's Cameras, Sound and Vision Mixing Diploma offers students practical training in a professional studio environment, preparing participants to work in a multi-camera studio environment as a Vision Mixer, a Camera/ Lighting or Sound specialist. As part of the course, students receive a six-week placement and a mentor at Sky. There is an opportunity for one student to receive a three month paid placement at the end of the course.

MAMA Youth Project

A nine-month programme that equips disadvantaged young people with the skills and experience to secure long term, fulfilling employment in the TV and media industry.

Duration: 12 weeks of intensive training and 6 months of follow-up support
Requirements: The programme is for 18 to 25 year olds who come from BAME communities or challenging backgrounds, including those not in employment or education.

About the programme

MAMA Youth Project equips disadvantaged young people with the skills and experience to secure long term, fulfilling employment in the TV and media industry. The programme puts the participants into a ‘real-time’ work situation during which they have to work in a team to produce a TV show called ‘What’s Up’, which is broadcast on Sky 1.
